Changes/Additions/Bug fixes/etc.
====================================================================
Version 5.9
Added a nifty new feature for calling the National Bureau of Standards
in Washington, DC and setting your DOS time to that of the atomic
clock. Its all rather automatic. See TIME SET paragraph in the SLICK.DOC
file.
Changed the default port (how it comes out the box) from COM1 to
COM2. This was changes at the request of users.
Added a time out counter to recycle Host Mode if there is no action
taken by a logon within two minutes of any input prompt.
Added a test for an active printer on LPT1 before activating any
feature requiring a printer. Now, if the printer is off line when it
is assumed to be there, the print function simple wont work rather
than locking up the system. It should be noted that I have yet to
find a method of testing for LPT1 that will function correctly on
every version BIOS found today on motherboards.
I am still exploiting the efficiency of opps codeing and rewriting
many of the routines in SLICK to reduce executable code size and
increase execution speed.
Fixed a soft bug in the video that would sometimes show a scrambled
screen on slow cpu's when returning from the default, color set,
menu. Fixed similar shadow bug on right side of dial directory
window.
Added 14,400 baud to the set baud menu, increasing the number of
possible speeds to a total of seven.

Version 5.8
Added a powerful new PRIVACY Mode to ensure against eavesdropping on
PUBLIC phone lines when communicating with office or friends.
A new DOS command window has been added via the Alt F10 key. Some
users with iron modems were reporting problems with Host Mode
recycling incorrectly after a user disconnects.
The timing code has been adjusted to compensate for older, slower
modems. Also fixed a bug reported relative to 300 baud connects, (did
I say old iron modems?)
Modified Alt-H (hang up) to drop and reset bits 0 and 1 of MCR in
lieu of recycling all modem registers. This effectively should allow
some older modems to retain their original command string (AT..)
instructions.
Fixed format of "time used" in SLICK.TYM to put a leading zero
whenever the numeral 9 appeared.
Reworked more internal functions to reduce executable code size and
improve operating speed making SLICK even lighter than ever!
Slowly working on the doc files to reorganize, correct typo's and
ultimately paginate and index. Meanwhile, responding to many request,
I have included a simple READ utility for displaying via your
monitor, the SLICK.DOC file. It is a stand alone utility but can also
be called via the Alt-V key while in terminal mode. For more info,
see the READ.DOC file contained in the SLICK58 suitcase archive. The
old function of Alt-V (clear screen in ANSI mode) has been moved to
Alt-Q.
Numerous request have led me to recode the password prompt (Host
Mode) so as to block the echoing of actual characters. Instead, the
asterisk "*" character will appear.

Version 5.7
Corrected time estimates during Zmodem transfers (SLICK now clocks
actual CONNECT baud when port is locked to higher setting).
Reworked Time Stamp file (SLICK.TYM) and Host User Log (SLICK.USE) to
format all info onto 80 character line.
ANSI BBS Music has been incorporated into SLICK V5+ terminal.
Restricted Host Disable and DROP OS (in Host Mode) to SysOp only
[which is FIRST password in SLICK.PAS file.]
Removed SnowToggle Alt-T from Default Menu [now Alt-W in Term Mode
and recoded Alt-T to allow the setting TimeStamp mode as a new run
time default. TimeStamp is shipped set to OFF.
SLICK.USR renamed to SLICK.HST and SLICK.BUL renamed to SLICK.MSG.
====================================================================
Version 5.6
SLICK is being completely overhauled to take full advantage of the
fastest possible methods of executing code using the least number of
CPU cycles.
Host mode, PLUS time stamp logging with elapsed time entry, now
available to registered users. See all the details above.
Time calculations for Zmodem file transfers (when locking port at
19,200) has been made independent of BRDL register and now based
on actual connect baud rates, eliminating erroneous calculations.
In order to get upgrades to our registered users the fastest possible
way, and to continue with the shareware method of distribution, we
have incorporated a proven INSTANT user registration method. To
register, you pass the parameter REGISTER to SLICK at the DOS prompt
and then, when asked, enter your first and last name as you provided
it to us. Next you enter the registration code we provide after
receiving payment. It's just that easy now. [ C>SLICK REGISTER ]

Version 5.5
A Chat mode has been added to V5.5 via the Host Menu.
In response to numerous request, PARITY/DATA/STOPBIT selection can
now be saved (V5.5up) as a permanent runtime default along with port
and baud rate.
